Construction of a new automotive plant in Algeria

Industry and Energy
As part of its industrial development in North Africa, the PSA Group undertook the construction of its new vehicle production facility in Tafraoui, near Oran, Algeria. This strategic project was managed from July 2019 using the Mezzoteam platform to centralise communications, document sharing and operational monitoring among all stakeholders.
This industrial programme followed the creation of the PCPA (Peugeot Citroën Production Algérie) joint venture, established in 2017 by the PSA Group and its Algerian partners Condor Electronics, Palpa Pro and the National Company for the Production of Machine Tools (PMO). Following the granting of the building permit in early 2019, construction work was entrusted to SFMAI for the industrial buildings and to the ARCHIBEN architecture firm for the design and studies.
Thanks to effective project team coordination and the implementation of a single collaborative environment, project stakeholders were able to monitor construction progress, share technical documents and secure validation processes throughout the construction phase.
The plant began production during the first half of 2020. Designed as a semi-knocked-down (SKD) vehicle assembly facility, it was sized to reach an annual production capacity of 75,000 vehicles across the Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and DS Automobiles brands, with a gradual ramp-up from an initial capacity of 50,000 vehicles per year.
This industrial facility enabled the PSA Group to strengthen its presence in the Algerian market while meeting local demand with vehicles complying with international standards for quality, safety and performance. The project demonstrates Mezzoteam’s ability to support complex industrial operations by facilitating collaboration between clients, contractors, engineering firms and local partners.
