Line B construction

Transport and Infrastructure
The construction of the Rennes metro Line B relied on the Mezzoteam platform to support document management and coordination for this infrastructure project.
Commissioned in September 2022, this new 14 km, 15-station automated line is permanently transforming mobility in the Rennes metropolitan area. It now connects the east and west of the city in about twenty minutes, providing nearly three-quarters of residents with access to the metro within a ten-minute walk.
Managed by Semtcar on behalf of Rennes Métropole, the project involved 764 companies and created nearly 7,500 jobs. Despite technical challenges and disruptions caused by the health crisis, the project was completed while staying within budget.
Line B also serves as a showcase for French innovation, featuring the world's first deployment of the Siemens CityVal automated metro system. Its operation benefits from high performance levels, with frequencies as high as one train every 60 seconds during peak hours, while offering scalable capacity to meet growing traffic demands.
The project also stood out for its environmental ambitions. Geothermal energy, regenerative braking, wash-water recycling, photovoltaic panels, and biodiversity preservation efforts all contribute to reducing its carbon footprint and improving energy efficiency.
Throughout this major operation, Mezzoteam made it possible to centralize documents, streamline communication between the numerous stakeholders, and ensure information traceability, thereby contributing to effective collaboration throughout the project's lifecycle.
