The mixed-use development Hikari (“Light” in Japanese) in Lyon Confluence was designed by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and the Lyon firm CRB Architectes, in conjunction with Bouygues Immobilier.
This development involved a partnership with leading Japanese companies, supported by NEDO (Japanese government agency the supports R&D and innovation in renewable energies). The pooling of energy production and consumption enables a 60% saving in energy use.

The urban development Hikari consists of a 5,500m² office building called “Higashi” (“East” in Japanese), a 3,400m², 36-unit apartment building called “Minami” (“South” in Japanese), a mixed-use building called “Nishi” (“West”), containing 2,600m² of offices and four penthouse apartments (700m²) and 1,000m² of shops and services on the ground floor of the three buildings.
