The Musée des Confluences, a natural history, anthropology and civilisation museum spanning a surface area of more than 20,000m², is located in Lyon at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers.
The museum owes its deconstructivist architectural design to Wolf D. Prix from the Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. The floating, cloud-like shape of the building evokes its ambitious cultural project, which is to help people to understand the world more effectively.
The Musée des Confluences in Lyon, managed by the Mezzoteam platform, opened to the general public on 20 December 2014.
