The Taiwan High-Speed Rail line is the first high-speed train service connecting the north to the south of the island.
The line, built in a highly volatile seismic area, includes 62km of tunnels and 252km of viaducts and bridges.
It can cover the 345km between the capital Taipei and Kaohsiung City in 90 minutes. It can reach a top speed of 300kph.
Overall, 30 trains operate on the line, each consisting of 12 carriages that can carry a total of 989 passengers.
Taiwan High-Speed Rail line expects to be carrying 336,000 passengers per day in 2033.
