White paper: Key criteria for choosing your Common Data Environment

Construction projects are generating more and more information that is necessary for the optimisation of the design, the construction and the operation of the structures. This information comes from various sources and must be shared with a large number of stakeholders.

The risks are:
• dispersion or loss of information
• unauthorised access
• the inability to guarantee the reliability of the data
• the difficulty of finding the right information efficiently

A Common Data Environment (CDE) is a digital space where information related to the construction project is stored and accessible to stakeholders according to their role (project owner, project manager, contractors and their subcontractors). A CDE allows you to share, organise, consolidate and exchange all data and documentation relating to a construction project: BIM models, plans, contracts, reports, estimates, detailed material specifications, etc.

By becoming the sole source of project data, a CDE facilitates collaboration between the various project participants and ensures data reliability, traceability and security.

But how can you be sure to choose the right CDE according to the requirements of your project? What criteria should you take into account? Find the answer in our checklist!
